Q: Who can join TASS?
A: Just about anyone! TASS is a sailing and social club based in Houston, Texas. We are the oldest sailing and social club in Galveston Bay Texas founded in 1984. TASS is a non-profit organization whose primary purpose is to promote the recreational sport of sailingQ: Is there an age requirement to join TASS?
A: To join TASS you must be 21 years or older.
Q: Do I need to own a boat to go sailing?
A: Nope. One of the great attractions of our affordable membership, when you JOIN , you can sail, or learn to sail without the investment of a boat. Most of our sailing is done on sailboats chartered from the Watergate Marina, Kemah, TX. Of course, we welcome boat owners, and many members own boats. They race with us and even invite members to sail with them.
Q: How often does TASS sail?
A: We sail nearly every weekend on Galveston Bay with boats skippered by qualified TASS sailors. The best way to find out about our sails and races is to visit our CALENDAR on the web. www.sailtass.com.
Q: What should I bring on a TASS leisure sail, how should I prepare myself"
A: No worries, you do not need special equipment, most likely things you already have for a day at the beach, hiking or outdoor sports. Q: What if I’ve never even been sailing before?
: No problem! Our casual sails do not require that you know how to sail. But if you are interested in learning, we sponsor training and classes for all levels of sailing skills. Nearly all our sails, classes, and social events are also open to non-members.
Q: When are your meetings?
A: We meet on the 1st Thursday of the month in the Kemah and the 3rd Thursday of the month in Houston. On alternate Thursdays, we have social gatherings we call MEET & MINGLE. You can consult the calendar for times and locations of all meetings and events. All meetings and events are open to members and guests interested in finding out about TASS. CALENDAR
Q: How do I become a member?
A: You can JOIN US online or in person at one of our weekly meetings.
Q: How much are dues?
A: $75 annually which affords you member pricing on sails and specified events.
